During my time at my home placement, I have run the Y7 Rugby League team. Throughout term 1, participation has been very high, the number of pupils attending training has been amazing. A few weeks into the year, we played our first two games and we lost both. Even after two defeats, the year 7s still kept coming to training and kept putting in the effort to learn. Fast forward around four weeks and our first fixtures came round at Robin Park. Two wins and one loss, amazing! The boys were so happy and we were very proud of their efforts and their belief in each other. However, after another loss left a sour taste, we continued to train. I have been so proud of their progress. Confidence was high as the next fixtures came round and the boys won three out of three. Our final fixture was at home. I don’t usually get nervous before games but I was really nervous. We worked really hard on our defence and our attacking shape in the lead up to the game. Game day came and I selected every player who had committed to training since September. Our Y7 came out convincing winners. A really proud moment for myself and the PE team. The lads worked hard for each other, showed resilience and loads of effort. These are my first Y7 team and I am so proud of the team, their effort and commitment.
