I. Lawton – Teacher of Chemistry (Cohort 5)

Teaching has completely opened up the doors to so many opportunities I would have never dreamed of.
In my third year of teaching, post Covid, I decided to take the plunge and move to Thailand where I would continue to teach my specialism, Chemistry, in an international school in Bangkok. Following on from that I am now working in Bali, Indonesia, doing what I love… teaching (and adventuring)!
Being trained by WWLCSD gave me amazing experience from the first day I was in the classroom! The skills I learnt have quite literally been transferred all over the world and I now have a job that I wake up excited to go to work and the weekends I am able to travel!
Teaching has allowed me to explore all over, in my holidays I have gone to Vietnam, Philippines, Australia and even Singapore for the weekend!
With a PGCE with QTS status, you are not only able to work outside of the UK in international schools, but you are able to teach your specialism with numerous financial and career developing perks.
Whilst I realise teaching abroad is not for everyone and it isn’t without its challenges, if I hadn’t decided to get in to teaching, I would never have dreamed my current life would have been a possibility.
