Since completing my teacher training with you, I have been focussed primarily on fine tuning my practice and contributing to developing a culture of outstanding teaching both in and out of my classroom. In the last academic year, I was nominated to be a mentor for a second year ECT. Here, I used my expertise to guide the ECT on her professional journey, promoting the highest standards of teaching and celebrating successes. Additionally, I was encouraged by the headteacher to complete an NPQ in ‘Leading Behaviour & Culture’; an area identified as a particular strength. Buoyed by her encouragement, I successfully completed this qualification and have since led departmental CPD in this area, as well as contribute to whole school CPD on the subject. For me, constantly striving to develop excellence is an absolute must and I am consistently seeking opportunities to develop professionally. This year, I have turned my attention to how we can successfully close the attainment gap for boys in secondary school- a school wide issue. Staying at the forefront of research and pedagogy is crucial in order to evolve as a teacher and provide the pupils that I teach with the best learning experiences! Completing the programme with you was the stepping stone to this success. The programme equipped me with essential teaching tools that have allowed me to flourish.
